Katherine Kinnaird is a second-year doctoral student in George Washington University’s Ed.D. Program in Human and Organizational Learning (HOL) at the Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD). Her research explores the concept of “double empathy” as it informs relational leadership in neurodiverse workplaces, particularly between managers and their employees with autism spectrum disorder. Kinnaird earned her BA in Religion with minors in Middle Eastern Studies and American Racial and Multicultural Studies at St. Olaf College, her MA in Religion with a concentration in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Yale University, and her Ed.M. in International Education Policy with a certificate in Child Protection at Harvard University. She currently works as a Senior Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist at the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and previously lived in Morocco, Jordan, Greece, and the West Bank of Palestine working on education and mental health projects for women, children, and families. Her work with refugee populations in these areas included design and development of special needs programming. Kinnaird has also worked domestically with special needs populations and is a certified Direct Support Professional (DSP) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
